Seeding time

It's here. Seeding time and the start of another farming season. The magic moment came on Friday morning when all conditions were right to get going and so the equipment moved off the yard and we got 140 acres or so done before dark. On Saturday we kept right on going and got another 80 done and today was another busy day and it is not over yet. Conditions are good and the wheat is getting seeded.

Okay, this bloggin is getting tough. That last blog was sounding very lame seeing i had done it the same way four times over two weeks before it blogged. verrrry something!!!!!!!!

This one is now second try.

During the holiday we spent time shopping for that last Christmas gift. Who would have thought that her trike was waiting for us in Salina, Ks. She liked it right away, and promptly headed for the kitchen to get her helmet. Safety first. she even got the bell on that radio flyer to ring for her. good job girl.
Later a tired smile and then it was time to go home time.

Next after Kansas we got to Nebraska. Here we stopped over at Roger and Bev's.
We met them down in Diamond this winter and enjoyed working with them. We got to spend a great evening visiting and checking out the farm and the town.
The winter wheat was looking very green and lush and Roger was almost ready to start the corn planting. The weather had been very warm till we got there but that day the wind had turned north and temps got to -6c (18f or so) the morning we left.

The next morning we got to see some Nebraska zemmel. Roger and Bev had brought some of them to Diamond in the winter so we knew they were not extinct. Thanks so much for the visit and sleeping with the crickets.

Homeward bound

We left early sunday morning for home. Jo says its time to go and stay there for a while.
The holiday has been wonderful with a variety of relaxation.
We had great driving weather and followed a path that led us to the Grand Canyon. The ride through Arizona deserts and forests and mountains and cactus and nothings and beauty was breathtaking. We took some of what we call little roads. The Grand Canyon weather was near perfect. We stayed much longer than we expected to. Very scenic and if God didn't make that, who did. Sure was not that little river at the bottom.
Next we moved on and travelled east towards the rockies. We crossed south of Denver on passes we had not crossed before. Up around 10,500ft you start to get quite a view and your glad you're not on a bicycle(atleast on the way up)

From there on to the foothills of the east slope. Colorado Springs and on to the rolling fields of Kansas. The beauty of the little towns in Kansas caught us by suprise. The very green winter wheat fields blowing in the wind was expected but the blooming trees, tulips, shrubs, and all the new spring green on the trees in town was a bonus.
