Family weekend

The weekend started out with a wedding on Friday night.  We got to celebrate with Lee and Rachel as they made their vows to each other and started out on their new life together.  It was a lovely wedding and celebration and it is always great to see a couple of young people happily in love and starting out in marriage.  May God Bless their marriage with many years together.
Sunday, it was time for the annual summer gathering for the Funk family.  We get together and catch up with each other and eat and talk and eat and talk some more.  Usually ends up with the girls at one spot
and the guys at another.  This year everyone was there, of the sibling that is .  All seven of us, with our spouses were in attendance.  That doesn't happen very often and so we decided that pictures were in order.   All of us are happily married and between us there are 231 years of marriage.  That is a lot.  What a blessing! That is pretty rare in this day and age but God has been faithful and we have all been blessed  to be with our original partners for many years, just as our parents and grand-parents before us were.   We come from a long line of love and I pray that our children and grandchildren will be able to experience the same blessing.   On another note, our parents are no longer with us, but the family continues to grow in size.  There are the seven of us sibling, with our seven spouses,  22 grandchildren of which 12 are presently married, and 38 great-grandchildren with 3 more on the way. Talk about a full house when there is a family gathering.   God is Good!

Just like big brother!

Two summers ago, this was Nolan loved to do, watch Grandpa work and follow along behind him as he went about doing odd jobs in the house.
This summer it is Lukas watching with interest as Grandpa works.

Fishing at the pond

Mid afternoon yesterday, Kerry and Shaun and Nolan decided to head out to the pond and do some fishing.  It didn't take long till there were a couple of perch pulled out.   There were a couple of bullheads caught too, but nothing very big.  The trout didn't fall for the bacon on the hook trick.   Nolan wanted to fish too, and so with Daddy's help he pulled in his first fish.  All to soon the fun had to end, I can only eat so much fish for one meal.  Kerry filleted 4 little perch and I fried them up for my supper, and they were quite tasty!
