More site #3

After the porch floors were poured, it was time to get the plumbing done and then the floor could be put on.

didn't take long until it was done and we could move on.

The walls were framed and sheeted and put up and by the end of the week

the house looked like this. The trusses are laying ready to be put on by next week's crew.

There was a variety of activity at site #3 this week. First thing Monday we stripped the forms from the stem wall, and got ready to pour the porch floors . We hauled bricks, and cleaned up,

we cut wood for joists and forming,

We rented a skid steer from Home Depot and used it to dump gravel into the porch pits, before we could pour the floor on them.

Site #2

I haven't posted many pictures of site #2 because I just don't get out to the sites much and also forget to send the camera with Kerry. This week I got to download some pictures from the PA group and so can show you how things are looking there. The house is sided and this week got it's coat of paint. Inside the wiring and the plumbing are pretty much done but we are waiting on the sprinkler folks to come and do their job, so we can get inspected once again and move on to the next step.

The windmill stands at a corner of the property, and underneath it is the generator that is supposed to supply some of his electricity. The rest will come from solar panels that will be installed on the roof of the house. This house will not be connected to the grid. Anyway, we also built the little house around and under the tower and have fondly referred to it as the dog house, and it was proudly shingled by ladies.

This is how the house looked by late Friday afternoon. Painting complete!

Just a few more pictures of our first house. This first one is coming in the front door, you see the back door and the dining area.
This next picture is looking from the living room, into the kitchen area and the hall, where there is a bathroom on the right, and two bedrooms at the end.
A view of the front of the house;

The back of the house.

We have passed enough inspections and now we are into the inside of the house. This week the insulation was put in and then short work was made of getting the drywall put up. Another inspection and then we could start with the taping and the mudding. The inspector has to come in and make sure there are enough screws in the drywall. There had to be one every seven inches along the edges and seams, and but there can be less in the field.

The clients are still very happy to see the progress each week. They try to get to know and remember the names of everyone who works at their house, and she provides fresh hot coffee for every break. Every once in a while they also send a couple of pails of ice cream or cakes to camp for desserts.
