Update from Palm Springs

We have been enjoying our time here in Palm Springs.  The weather has been great, sunny and hot most days, and we have just been enjoying and relaxing for the most part.  We had friends here for part of the time and together we did some hiking.  Here we are at the end of the trail on one of our hikes.  It was on this hike that we heard an earthquake, but we did not feel it.  The next night at the condo, we did feel an earthquake.  It was kind of freaky, but now we can say we have actually felt the ground move.
The next photo is of the falls at the end of this trail.
Downtown Palm Springs is the proud host of this Marilyn Monroe statue, and we walked over there one night after supper at Ruby's, and of course we had to take a picture.  We were joined by sister Minnie and husband Gary, as well as friends Lon and Pat.  For some reason it was Kerry and Minnie who were willing to pose for the picture.
We also took M and G out to some of the places that we enjoy so they could see for themselves the beauty of the valley.  We took them to Aunt Mary's Garden one day for coffee, then after wandering around there awhile, took them to see a couple of golf courses, and other interesting places.

We also did another hike with L and P and it was HOT!  We thought we would get an early start but it was not early enough and we were quite warm by the time we got to the last part in the shade.  The views from up on top were great though.

The last picture shows how we have spent other hours of our day, just enjoying our little courtyard, and floating around in our little pool.  How much better can a holiday get?

Time for a holiday

We are here!  Back in Palm Springs where we love to go and spend some time relaxing and holidaying.  We have been enjoying the sunshine and warmth, the green grass, palm trees, flowers and all that goes along with this warmer climate.  We spent some time with family and friends so far and are anticipating more of that, and have also been pretty lazy.  We have rented a condo for the month and are really enjoying this place.  It is comfy and useable, and has a lot of character. Enjoy the photos!

Zion National Park

After a short week at home we packed up the car and headed out again.  We were on our way to Palm Springs for our month of holidays there and stopped in at Zion National park for a look.  We had heard it was amazing and it truly was.  The rock formations were awesome and reminded us that our Creator is an awesome and powerful God.  Enjoy the pictures. It is hard to capture the majestic rocks and scenes on camera but it was well worth the detour.

time at home

After leaving Kentucky we headed home for a couple of days, and came home to snow, lots of it, and cold weather.  There was more snow than last winter that's for sure.  It was cold out but we had a warm reception from family and friends and we tried to see as many of them as we could.  Kids came over, I got to do some babysitting for all of the local grands, we got together with friends and it was great.  On the last Sunday we were home we had a birthday celebration for the two birthdays we missed and for the two coming up.  It was a good week, enjoy the pictures.

Final West Liberty picture

Out time at West Liberty came to an end in the middle of Feb.  We had spent 6 weeks here and they were good weeks.  We had welcomed as strangers 5 groups of volunteers, and said good-bye to them as friends.  The last week, we said hello to a bunch of friends from back home and it was good to see so many familiar faces. This is the picture of the Rosenort group.   We got a lot done in our 6 weeks working with Habitat and one of the local pastors as well.  We saw one family move in and another lady was very close, and we worked on a bunch of other homes.  We heard incredible and amazing storm stories, and we worked with a lot of great volunteers, short term and long term, and made a lot of friends, and again, as other years, we came away blessed and challenged.  It was a good time but we were ready to hand it over to the next director and get back home to see family and friends.
