Family Sunday

We had a busy Sunday this week. We enjoyed a picnic in the park with a good number of the Eidse clan, and it gave us a chance to visit with Scott and Kim, out to visit from Oregon. It was a pleasant day and the chicken and pizza tasted good in the fresh air. It is always good to get the family together and catch up with some of the nieces and nephews that we dont see very often, even though they don't live far away.
After we left the picnic in the park, we headed to a wedding . This time it was a gathering of the Funk clan as we celebrated the marriage of Michael and Rebecca. Of course there were others there too, but it was good to see my family again and connect with Minnie and Garry who were out from Calgary. The wedding was lovely and the couple, as you can see looked radiant and in love.

A quick update

Harvest is a busy time and most of the meals are eaten on the go. This day we actually had time to enjoy a break and a picnic beside the field. Luckily the road we put our picnic blanket down on doesn't see much traffic. Right now we are in a holding pattern, the barley, wheat , oats and canola are harvested and in the bin and we are waiting for the soybeans . It gives us time to get to some of the other jobs like cultivating and doing scraper work, repairs, hauling grain to the elevator and such.

Hailey has finally mastered the art of riding her tricycle on her own without those little pushes from behind , but as you can see, it takes a lot of concentration.

Jayda is growing and happy and readily shares her smiles with us and grandpa loves it. She is getting very eager to start playing and gets all excited when we put some brightly colored toys or storybooks in front of her. It won't be long till she is sitting and playing and I can read books to her too.

Good thing Grammy Jo has a lap that is big enough for both of her grand-daughters.

Farming---This week

The harvest has arrived! The hot weather of late has hurried along the ripening of the grain and so this week has been busy with swathing and combining. The barley harvest is done and the yields were good. We started swathing the wheat on Wednesday and by Friday we got to combining it . It is mostly dry and has good color and the bins are filling up.

Crop photos--Last week

Last Sunday we had a nice relaxing day. After a good nap in the afternoon, Kerry and I went on a crop tour. The first two pictures are of our soybeans, on two different fields. They are looking good but could use another rain as they fill.

The barley is ripening fast and this field went under the knife on Monday.

This last picture shows one fo our wheat fields, this one surrounding our yard. The hot weather in the last couple of weeks has really speeded up the ripening and it seems that harvest is upon us.

Our Little girls

The kids were all home the other day and we were celebrating Vicki's birthday, and Hailey was patiently waiting for the birthday cake to arrive. Jayda decided the time was right for a quick snooze, she knew that she wasn't getting any cake anyway.
