New Brunswick

After crossing over on the bridge we continued on our sightseeing journey and made our way to Moncton. Close to Moncton we saw this golf course near the road and just had to turn in and take a picture of the gorgeous trees. It was very pleasant out and the golf course looked quite inviting, but we didn't have our clubs along, nor did we have enough time that day. We continued on on our quest to find Magnetic Hill, which Mom and Dad had told us to go see. We found it eventually and were not that impressed, Kerry was not fooled, but I am a little more gullible and was almost taken in. We did however find some great scenery that was a better highlight for us.

From Moncton we headed north to Bouctouche where our MDS meeting was to take place. We were there early and so we had time for a nice long walk. We found a nice trail that took us around this body of water and it took us about an hour at a good pace to complete it but it felt good to get some exercise after a couple of days of mostly driving. Part of the trail was in the open, part of it was in the trees and part of it was city walking so we got to see a lot of different things along the way, and the afternoon temperature was just right for a good walk.

Friday night, Saturday and part of Sunday morning were spent at Camp Wildwood for the Region V MDS retreat/board meeting. It was a nice setting for the meetings with a nice big room for business and meals. The bottom picture was taken during one of the meeting times. It was good to meet other people from across Canada who are also involved in MDS and form new friendships. There are a lot of great people in this organization. Sunday morning we had the privelege of attending morning worship at Petticodiac Mennonite Church in Petticodiac, NB., and then sharing in a fellowship lunch with them.

Afterwards, Kerry and I continued on with our sightseeing, going to Hopewell Rocks and ending up back at Truro for the night. On Monday morning we headed out to the Anapolis Valley, stopping at the Mennonite community of Northfield and visiting some folks there that we had met at the meeting. From there we continued on to Berwick and stopped to visit some folks who used to live in our community. We were able to go out to an apple orchard and see first hand how the apples get picked and got to sample the fruit. We would have liked to stay longer and explore more of the valley, but had to get back to Halifax for our flight home in the afternoon. It was a whirlwind tour but we can honestly say that we had a good time and would like to go back some day, and see the things that we couldn't get to this time.

I have heard Kristy's news! She called me last week and the strange thing was that I didn't suspect a thing! Very exciting! We're really looking forward to seeing everyone at Christmas in a few weeks..hard to believe it's coming up so fast!
