Prince Edward Island
We spent the first night at Truro,NS after doing some touring around. The next morning we enjoyed some more sights as we made our way over to where we wanted to take the ferry over to PEI. We had an enjoyable time and were in no rush and were quite surprized to be ushered right on to the ferry when we arrived. We parked and went up on deck and the next thing we knew we were leaving the dock. After finding and checking a schedule we realized that we had just made it in time, and had we missed this ferry, we would have had to wait 3 hours for the next one. Needless to say, we felt very fortunate. After an uneventful 75 minute crossing, our first sight of the island was this lighthouse.
It was sunny but windy, with a cool bite to the wind and so we stopped at the ocean but didn't walk, we just looked, nor did we take off our socks and shoes to test the water.
We toured around on the island and enjoyed the scenery and the fall colors. We made our way over to Cavendish and found the Anne of Green Gables homestead, but due to time constraints, we didn't go in. We did find a nice park not far away and took time to walk and enjoy the peaceful warm afternoon. Much more pleasant that out by the ocean. The tree I am standing under is just one of many maples like it that we saw and enjoyed. Many of them were bright orange or even red
We continued our tour and we really enjoyed seeing the brown soil in the fields and how the fields would gently slope down to the water's edge, and be bordered by colorful trees, the winding roads and the small towns along the way. We made our way to Summerside where we found a place for the night and the next day it was time to leave. This time we made our way over to Confederation Bridge and ended our enjoyable stay on the island by driving the 9 mile bridge and finding ourselves in New Brunswick at the other end.

wow, gorgeous! it's one of my dreams to go to p.e.i. glad you had a good time!
Very nice account of your journey, Jo! When we get together it always feels like a person can't really describe what a trip was like. Often you're interrupted by other talk & activities, so this is nice - just sit, read & enjoy!
