Leaf Peeping--Chapter 2 continued

On these holidays, we usually take a barbeque along with us and stock up on some food so that when we see a nice picnic spot we can stop and enjoy. That sounds easy enough, but sometimes finding the right spot isn't that easy. This day however, we did find a nice spot in a campground alongside the road in the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. We stopped and set up and had a nice meal , surrounded by lovely trees, and with the smell of woodsmoke from a nearby campsite. It was nice and warm and a nice break from our morning hike.

We spent the rest of our day driving and exploring. We don't always stay on the most travelled routes and as a result see a lot of the country. We found some great scenery and gorgeous colors, we drove through lots of small towns and farmland and feasted our eyes on the red and orange leaves of the maples.

Our stop for this night was at Houghton, MI. We enjoyed a good supper then another walk in the pleasant evening air and spent some time exploring the town before settling in to our room for the night.
